What pushes the price up
- No power point at the door head. A registered electrician adds one. Typically a few hundred dollars, quoted by them, with a certificate.
- A heavy door. Double-glazed panels over about 120 kg need a commercial-grade operator.
- A door that sticks. New rollers or a track repair first.
- Brick or concrete above the door with no timber or steel to fix to: extra fixing work.
What it doesn't include
Electrical work, repairs to the door itself, painting, and removal of an old operator. We list anything like that on the quote before you agree to it.
Why we put prices online
Most door companies say "call for a quote". We'd rather you know the ballpark before you send photos, so neither of us wastes a visit.
Questions
How much does an automatic door cost in Melbourne?
For a house, adding an opener to the sliding door you already have starts from $1,890 installed. An opener for a hinged door starts from $2,490. A new interior automatic sliding glass door, glass included, starts from $4,990. All prices include GST. Shopfront doors are quoted per job.
Do I need an electrician?
Most home openers plug into a normal power point near the top of the door. If there is no power point there, a licensed electrician has to add one. In Victoria only a registered electrical contractor can do fixed wiring, and that part is quoted separately with a compliance certificate.
How long does it take?
An opener on an existing door is usually a half-day install. A new glass door takes one day on site, but the toughened glass is made to measure first, which takes about 7–10 working days after we measure.
